Time is flying faster than ever. Some days it doesn't feel like it, that is until I write a check and look at the date. I have been busy teaching and playing with my boys. We went to the Omaha Zoo last weekend. It was over 40 degrees here in NE. For the winter time, that is like summer. So we packed up and met Grandma for brunch at Wheatfields.
Wheatfields in Omaha is a treet. They offer a large menu of breakfast, lunch, dinner, fondue, and most importantly dessert and baked goods. My ultimate fav is the Strawberry Wedding Cake. Totally delish! After brunch and picking up a few treats, we were off for a day at the Zoo. I think it is one of the best kept secrets for the winter here in Omaha. Most don't think to head out there during the winter, which makes seeing the indoor exhibits really nice. No need to hurry through, making sure your kids don't get run over by others, etc. Here are a few pics...
Yep those are my babies. They're not really babies anymore, but ya know. We had a great time. Poor Cam fell asleep on the long hike up the hill to the entrance/exit.
Of course in true Nebraska fashion, the weather did not last. It was bitterly cold the next few days. I felt bad for the students who didn't have jackets coming in to school. I finished up my sub job this week. And you couldn't pay me to go back to middle school. ***EDIT *** by pay me to go back to middle school, I meant to be that age again. I liked school, but the junior high years were harsh. I would do my senior again, now that was fun... *** I had thankfully forgotten how cruel that age can be to each other. I wanted so badly to tell some of the students that in 5-10 years things that happened today really won't matter, but they wouldn't believe it.
Here is one of the projects I was working on while teaching this week.
Lots of "that's cool" and "did you draw that?" was heard over the week. Gotta love 2pt perspective drawings.
Well it's back to estimating our taxes.
