Is there a doctor in the house?

Doctor It's one of those things I have just lived with for quite a while.  I mean I can see it in my senior pictures, which was years ago.  A few people had commented on it, but never perfect strangers.  So I really thought nothing of it, until it started rearing its ugly head in photos.  I guess I never really noticed it until I started wearing glasses all the time.  The frames kind of lead your eye to that one spot.

Well, a few weeks ago, it reared it's ugly head.  I had to see a doctor to find out what it really was and why it decided to masquerade as the worlds largest pimple.  I know aren't ya glad your decided to read my blog today!!!  HA HA HA!

It looked like something out of one of those American Pie movies.  A really bad joke, the day of prom.  It might as well have been.  I work with elementary school children all day.  Gotta love answering, "What's wrong with your face?" all day.

I had intended on taking a lovely before picture (camera batteries dead) to share, but I think I have one of just how it looked on any normal given day.  I say looked, because I went to see a plastic surgeon to have it removed yesterday.  Not exactly the most glamorous reason to visit a PS, but I was told if I wanted it to look decent that would be my best option.  So, I will spare you the post surgical pictures (my eye is a lovely shade of purple right now) and wait until Monday when the stitches are finally removed.   It will be strange not seeing it there anymore.  It does still have a few relatives close by, and we will see on Monday if those need to be removed as well.   Here is the "BEFORE" photo with the area to be removed circled...

Well I am off to bed to get so much needed rest.  Hopefully, Mother Nature is deciding to do the same...  here is to a quiet, peaceful night!

Simply charming

There are just a few spots left for the Diamonds and Pearls Charm Swap!  I have sent additional information to those who RSVPd.  The guest list is shaping up very nicely.   I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of the theme.

In other news, I have recently started working at my sons' daycare.  I am with the school age students and we have been busy.  3 field trips already this week.  I went roller skating for the first time in, what 20 years?  I am proud to say that I remembered how to skate both frontwards and backwards... and I didn't fall once!  The kids had a great time!  What a great workout!

We went to the reading program at the library and met members of our local baseball team the Saltdogs.  2 players read stories to a very large group of children, answered questions, and then gave autographs.  Another fun outing.  Our last trip was to Pioneers Park.  We took a short hike to see the geese on the pond, had a picnic, and played at the playground.  I don't know about the kids, but I am exhausted!

Today is water play day, and I will be working later this afternoon!  Speaking of which, I really need to get to work on some creative things!
Have a great weekend!

Diamonds and Pearls

Charm-swap-buttonJune is a special month for me and my fam.  My DH and I were married on June 12, 1999.  We were hoping to get married on our anniversary (ya know the one were we officially started dating) but the 9th just wouldn't cooperate with a weekend.  No sense in waiting, so we opted for the next closest Saturday.

Fast forward to 2006 - I was sitting in my OB's office convinced that my little one would make an appearance on our anniversary, when he said that Cam would be delivered via C-section.  Turns out he is more like me than I thought.  He was breach, just like me.  After weighing the not so appealing options, we decided that a C-Section was the way to go.  I joked about our anniversary, and our OB decided to make sure that it stayed just that.  Cam was to be delivered on the 13th.  One more thing in common with me, only mine is in October.

So, I have 2 beautiful celebrations this month.  My anniversary and my baby's birthday.  He is turning 2!  I still can't believe how fast they grow!  I decided this would be the perfect time to extend an invitation for a swap.  My inspiration came from Silverbella 2007.  I was a bit intimidated by the charm swap, so I decided against it.  After seeing the amazing creations, I was so bummed, and vowed that day to host a charm swap.  Ah good things come to those who wait, right?  Well, the wait is over.

You are cordially invited to the Diamonds and Pearls charm swap.  Sparkling rhinestones and shimmering pearls set in shades of silver.  Old photos of party gals dripping in jewels sassing about this and that.  Old ticket stubs and dance cards enshrined in glass.  Tiny keepsakes dangling from a ring!  Oh the possibilities...

Each party girl will create 12 "identical" charms to share with other guests.  Charms should be delivered to the hostess (me) via Mr. Postman by June 30th.  Charms will be artfully arranged into one of the most spectacular favors ever and sent via Mr. Postman back to each guest along with a few other little party favors!

Please RSVP for the party by leaving a comment below.
Happy creating!
